Come, Ye Thankful . . .

The songwriter said, "Come, ye thankful people, Come,  Raise the song of harvest home.  All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin.  God, our Maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied.  Come, to God's own Temple, Come!  Raise the song of harvest home."

I also love this beautiful Thanksgiving hymn by Folliott Pierpont:

     "For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies.
For the love which from our birth over and around us lies.
      For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night;
Hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light.

      For the joy of human love -- Brother, sister, parent, child;
Friends on earth, and friends above; For all gentle thoughts and mild;
      For Thy Church that evermore lifteth holy hands above;
Offering up on every shore her pure sacrifice of love.

      Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise."

This coming Sunday is Thanksgiving Sunday.  May we prepare our hearts for this holy day and plan to "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise."
