LIGHT OF THE WORLD!

To me, one of the most beautiful things surrounding Christmas is the myriad of lovely lights all around us, dispelling the gloom and darkness; shining abroad for every eye to behold the delightful colors, the glowing and dazzling beauty of thousands of little white lights sparkling in the midst of other colors!  But then, what a drastic change when all of the bright, shining lights are extinguished!  The beautiful Christmas tree that was aglow with many lovely lights that made the ornaments sparkle, is suddenly rather dull, downcast, and drab looking!

I thought about that in relation to our spiritual experience.  Jesus said in Matthew 5:14 -- "Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."  He went on to instruct us in verses 15 and 16:  "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  There are multitudes of people sitting in spiritual darkness this Christmas!  Will they be able to see the light of Jesus shining in and through us?

"The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin; the Light of the world is Jesus.                                       Like sunshine at noon-day His glory shone in; the Light of the world is Jesus.                                          No darkness have we who in Jesus abide; the Light of the world is Jesus.                                                  We walk in the Light when we follow our Guide; the Light of the world is Jesus.

Ye dwellers in darkness with sin-blinded eyes; the Light of the world is Jesus.                                           Go, wash at His bidding, and light will arise.  The Light of the world is Jesus.                                           No need of the sunlight in heaven we're told; the Light of the world is Jesus.                                            The Lamb is the Light in the city of gold; the Light of the world is Jesus.

Come to the Light; 'tis shining for thee.  Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me.                                     Once I was blind, but now I can see.  The Light of the world is Jesus."
