This Christmas, I am trying to comprehend even a fraction of what it meant, and what it cost, for Jesus to come DOWN -- DOWN from His Heavenly Father -- DOWN from the presence of the holy angels -- DOWN from the glory; the beauty; the wonder; the majesty of Heaven -- DOWN to the lowly stable -- DOWN to be born, not in splendor befitting a King, but as a lowly Babe with only the stable animals to welcome His birth!
No, I cannot begin to comprehend at this blessed Christmas time the glorious love of Christ, my Lord divine, that made Him stoop way DOWN to save a soul like mine! But I am so very thankful to know at this holy Christmas time, Jesus came all the way "DOWN From His Glory" for you and for me!
"Down from His glory, ever living story, my God and Saviour came, and Jesus was His name. Born in a manger, to His own a stranger, a Man of sorrows, tears, and agony. What condescension, bringing us redemption; that in the dead of night, not one faint hope in sight, God, gracious, tender, laid aside His splendor, stooping to woo, to win, to save my soul.
Without reluctance, flesh and blood His substance, He took the form of man, revealed the hidden plan. O glorious mystery, sacrifice of Calvary, and now I know Thou art the great "I Am." O how I love Him! How I adore Him! My breath, my sunshine, my all in all! The great Creator became my Saviour, and all God's fullness dwelleth in Him."
