God Bless America!

In Proverbs 29:2 we read these words:  "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.:
In I Timothy 2:1-2, we find these challenging words -- "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men:  for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

Proverbs 33:12 says:  "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."
Psalm 33:12 says -- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance."

I trust that you were able to listen last night as our President delivered his State of the Union address to the nation!  It was excellent, and I'm sure that many of God's people were praying for him as he spoke!  It is certainly a great blessing to have a President that wants us to have religious freedom and liberty in this republic that was founded on Christianity!
I thought again of this song written by John Peterson over 50 years ago, but still so needed today!

     "Enemies increase around us threatening constantly,
Much there is that would confound us, so it's plain to see --
      It's time to pray to the God who watches o'er us,
It's time to seek His help without delay;
      The world is dark, for the clouds of war still threaten --
It's time for all America to pray!

      If we would keep the flag of freedom flying,
Secure the peace for which we all are crying --
      It's time to pray -- our sin and wrong confessing,
It's time for all America to pray!"

"If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  (II Chronicles 7:14)
