Psalm 96

It is Monday, and my heart is filled with praise and Thanksgiving!!  I feel like singing the little chorus, "I am Blessed"!  "I am blessed--I am blessed!  Every day that I live I am blessed!  When I wake up in the morning 'till I lay my head to rest; I am blessed--I am blessed"!  And if you don't feel very blessed this morning -- just start counting your blessings, naming them one by one, and you'll soon find yourself on The Victory Side!

Yesterday was a wonderful day as we honored our Fathers!  My pastor preached a very challenging message to our fathers (and all of us) yesterday morning at church.  Then it was wonderful to enjoy a delicious meal and sweet fellowship with the family as we recalled  memories of the fathers and grandfathers  who are enjoying the glories of heaven!!  May we be determined to join them one day--it will be worth it all When We See Christ!!

The Book of Psalms is such a wonderful book of Prayer and Praise!  Just about every Psalm has something that will bless and encourage us in our walk with Jesus.  I like these words from this prayer of David in the 86th Psalm:
"For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.  In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.  For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
Teach me thy way, O Lord: I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.  I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.  For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth."
And maybe, for a benediction, we could add this blessed promise from the 84th Psalm --
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.  O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee."
And all the people said, "Amen"!
