"Oh, Come All Ye Faithful" is one of my very favorite Christmas carols.
"Oh, come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant.
Oh, come ye, oh, come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exaltation.
Oh, sing, all ye bright hosts of heaven above.
Glory to God, all glory in the highest!
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning.
O Jesus, to Thee be all glory given.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing."
The words are so beautiful, and the verses just seem to keep building in praise and adoration until the hymn writer is compelled to give the thrilling invitation --
"Oh, come, let us adore Him. Oh, come, let us adore Him.
Oh, come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord"!
It makes me think of the beautiful scripture in the 5th chapter of Revelation where the angels are exalting the Lamb, and then every creature joins in the universal adoration of the Lamb who is King!
"And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands:
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."
I cannot begin to comprehend the miracle of that holy night so long ago when God laid a Baby on the doorstep of our world and angels filled the heavens announcing His birth! But I am so thankful that God's love reaches clear down to Christmas, 2017, and whosoever will may come!
