In my last blog, I spoke about the Lord giving Moses a charge and a tremendous responsibility at 80 years of age. It seemed an impossible task to Moses and he had some objections. Listen to his response:
"O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say."
Even after the Lord gave Moses the sweet assurance of His presence and guidance, he hesitated and made excuses until God's Word says "the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses." How sad! May God help you and me to be quick to "Trust and Obey"!
When Moses started out to obey God, he didn't get very far in the contest with Pharaoh until the going got rough! Moses returned to the Lord and said: "Lord, wherefore hast Thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that Thou hast sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Thy name, he hath done evil to this people: neither hast Thou delivered Thy people at all."
Well, the Lord knew His servant needed encouragement, so He had a wonderful little talk with Moses in the beginning verses of the 6th chapter of Exodus.
"And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: Say unto the children of Israel of Israel, I am the Lord, and I WILL bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I WILL rid you out of their bondage, and I WILL redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
And I WILL take you to Me for a people, and I WILL be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
And I WILL bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob: and I WILL give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord."
Seven times the Lord assured His servant, Moses -- "I WILL"!! Perhaps the Lord wanted to reaffirm to Moses: "Whatever it is that you need, that's what I Am"! Praise the Lord! God is just the same today!!
